This blog post requires very little introduction, so let’s dive right in and take a look at 10 awesome Christmas ads that have brought some magic to our screens this year.
Aldi – Kevin the Carrot
A carrot is an integral part of every snowman’s face… not to mention Christmas dinner. That’s why Aldi’s Kevin the Carrot character is loved by children and adults alike, from his new video adventures that see him triumph over the evil parsnip, to heaps of #KevinTheCarrot activity across social media and the entire family available as plushies. Here’s to a tasty Christmas!
Boots – Get them something that says… you get them
As the old saying goes, it’s the thought that counts. Boots has taken this to a whole new level with its Get them something that says… you get them campaign, which combines family values with gifts that bring smiles to faces.
Iceland – Rang-Tan’s Story
We really love this one for a couple of reasons. First, because it’s a beautiful animation that shares a strong message about the environment. But even more than that, Iceland took the banning of their #NoPalmOilChristmas advert as motivation to keep talking about the hot topic, despite Clearcast deeming it “too political”.
Asda – Bring Christmas Home
Santa shooting a flaming pud from a cannon, dirt bikes flying over snowdrifts, choreographed waiters serving light bites, a pair of confused yetis, a humongous inflatable snowman, and presents delivered to your door by people dressed in onesies, party dresses and festive jumpers… come on, what’s not to love? Good work, Asda, you’ve successfully brought Christmas home!
M&S – Christmas Must-Haves
There are a lot of must-haves at this time of year, from party after party after party, to impressing the in-laws with your washing-up skills. M&S celebrates the season with a little bit of magic and a whole lot of sparkle, complete with pantomime dame and a Bridget Jones sing-along!
John Lewis – The Boy and the Piano
The high-end department store that’s on everyone’s lips at Yuletide has created something truly wonderful this year, going back in time to show how a gift to a young Elton John was more than just a gift, essentially changing the world of music. Simply breath-taking.
Waitrose – Fast Forward
And then we have Waitrose, who remind us that their food is #TooGoodToWait. This sees a daughter taking her parents into the lounge to watch the John Lewis advert mentioned above, yet instead of welling up, they fast forward it in order to tuck into a nice bit of stollen. Cheeky and relatable in equal measure.
Debenhams – Do a bit of you-know-you-did-good
A series of short and sweet ads that celebrate the moment you realise you’ve got that special someone the perfect gift. We all know that feeling, and Debenhams can clearly help you achieve it.
Lidl – More for Everyone This Christmas
It can be a very expensive season, especially with so many mouths to feed. Luckily, Lidl has you sorted with a huge selection of delicious grub minus the hefty price tag. With friendly store workers helping families to organise everything from little treats to enormous feasts, there really is more for everyone this Christmas.
Sainsbury’s – The Big Night
We couldn’t possibly talk about the top Christmas ads of 2018 without including this cracker from Sainsbury’s. Whilst the little girl with the epic voice is truly wonderful, social media went crazy over the adorable boy dressed as the plug who lights up the Christmas tree. Fabulous stuff!
