Challenge

Passionate co-owners and distillers, Simon and Emma, approached us for marketing support to celebrate Hotham’s upcoming first birthday. Within the space of a year, the Hull-based distillery has won numerous awards and has opened it’s very own Gin School; a unique visitor experience where the founders’ knowledge and expertise is shared.

Approach

We proposed an upgrade to their current brand and marketing material to reflect their growing success and achievements. Visiting the distillery and attending a Hull Gin School evening class equipped us with knowledge of what the rebrand would require: high quality finishes for a high quality gin. Proficiently made in small batches the traditional way, the methodically handcrafted product demanded a new, more luxurious look.

We produced elegant labels utilising beautiful copper-foiled text and borders, mirroring the traditional stills found in the gin school. We designed stylish neck tags encouraging customers to try each gin’s perfect serve and highlighting the brand’s expertise. Every bottle in each modestly sized batch is numbered and that digit is featured on the label, promoting its individuality. Thanks to the new label design, each unique bottle number now has room to be proudly handwritten and clearly displayed.

New professional event and product photography was created and used on banners and printed material, whilst metallic copper laminate added a luxury touch to folded gift vouchers. A promotional video was made for use online and for their social media.

Value

A combination of improvements, from hot-foiling labels to professional filming, have upgraded Hotham’s appearance to match the specialist, handcrafted gin it always has been.
