Hothams Gin

Challenge

Passionate co-owners and distillers, Simon and Emma, approached us for marketing support to celebrate Hothams upcoming first birthday. Within one year, the Hull-based distillery has won numerous awards, and has opened it’s very own Gin School to share their knowledge and expertise as a unique visitor experience.

Approach

We proposed an upgrade to their current brand and marketing material to reflect their growing success and achievements. Visiting the distillery and attending a Hull Gin School evening class equipped us with knowledge of what the rebrand would require: high quality finishes for a high quality gin. Made in small batches the traditional way, the laborious and handcrafted nature of the product demanded a new, more luxurious look.

We produced elegant labels utilising beautiful copper-foiled text and borders to mirror the traditional stills found in the gin school, as well as neck tags to encourage customers to try each gin’s perfect serve, highlighting the brand’s expertise. The small batches of production have become a feature on the bottle, making obvious the handmade approach. As the creator’s hand labeled each bottle, the unique batch number now has room to be proudly written and showcased on the front.

New professional event and product photography was created and used on banners and printed material, whilst metallic copper laminate added a luxury touch to folded gift vouchers. A promotional video was made for use online and for their social media.

Value

A combination of improvements, from hot-foiling labels to professional filming, have upgraded Hothams appearance to match the specialist, handcrafted gin it always has been.
